Backup & Restore

GanttForce lets you save snapshots of your workspace data and restore from them if needed. This is available from the Backup & Restore section in the Control Panel.

Local export

You can download your workspace data at any time without creating a named backup:

• JSON export — full workspace data in machine-readable format
• Excel export — project and people data in spreadsheet format

Local exports are downloaded immediately to your computer and are not stored in GanttForce.

Cloud Backup

Cloud backups save a named snapshot to GanttForce's storage. To create one:

1. Open the Control Panel and go to Backup & Restore
2. Click Create Backup
3. Give the backup a name and optionally add a comment
4. Click Save

Each backup entry shows the name, comment, file size, and creation date.

Restoring from a backup

To restore a backup, click the Restore button next to the snapshot you want. A confirmation dialog appears showing a summary of the data that will be restored. Read it carefully — restoring replaces all current workspace data with the snapshot.

Confirm to proceed. The restore cannot be undone.

Deleting a backup

Click the delete icon next to a backup to remove it. A confirmation is required. Deleted backups cannot be recovered.

Important notes

• Restoring from a backup permanently replaces all current workspace data
• Always review the confirmation summary before confirming a restore
• It is good practice to create a backup of the current state before restoring an older one
