GanttForce includes a dedicated Vacation page where admins and editors can manage the entire team's time off — public holidays, company-level holiday policies, and individual vacation periods. All of this feeds directly into capacity planning on the Gantt.
Click the Vacation button in the header island (the pill-shaped toolbar at the top right). The Vacation page is available to all roles except Platform Superadmin. Use the back arrow to return to the Gantt.
The main area shows a horizontal day-by-day grid for the entire year. Each row is one team member. Each cell represents one day, colour-coded by type.
| Cell colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Blue fill | Approved vacation |
| Orange fill | Public holiday — confirmed |
| Orange outline | Public holiday — pending team member confirmation |
| Grey fill | Weekend |
| No fill | Regular working day |
Click any cell to open a detail panel for that day.
Go to Control Panel → Public Holidays. Select a country and year, then click Import. GanttForce fetches public holidays from an international database covering over 100 countries.
You can import holidays for multiple countries — for example Serbia, Bosnia, and Germany if your team spans those locations. Each country's holidays are stored separately and do not overwrite each other. Each person on the team has a country assigned in their profile (Control Panel → Team → Country field), so GanttForce automatically shows the right holidays for each person.
After importing, open Company holidays from the Vacation page toolbar (visible to admins only). For each imported holiday, choose one of three policies.
| Policy | Effect |
|---|---|
| Confirm | Approved for the whole company. Counts as a non-working day for everyone immediately. |
| User Choose | Each team member decides individually. The holiday appears as pending until they confirm or remove it. |
| Cancel | Treated as a regular working day for everyone. No effect on capacity. |
A typical setup: use Confirm for official state holidays, User Choose for religious holidays where observance varies, and Cancel for dates that do not apply to your company. Click Save changes when done.
Click any cell in the grid and select Add vacation, or use the right-click context menu anywhere on the page. In the modal, select the team member, set the date range, and confirm. Only working days within the selected range are counted — weekends are excluded automatically.
Vacation periods are shown in blue on the grid and appear in each person's sidebar panel.
The right sidebar shows a summary for the whole team when you are on the Team tab.
All confirmed vacation days and confirmed holidays reduce a person's available capacity for that month. This is reflected in the Workforce panel on the Gantt — overloaded months turn red when a person has less availability than their assigned project load requires.
Click the vacation period in the grid or in the sidebar panel and select Remove. Confirmed holidays can be reset from Control Panel → Public Holidays → Reset holidays (admin only).
