The Gantt chart is the main view in GanttForce. It shows all projects as horizontal bars across a timeline, grouped by client.
The timeline shows a 12-month window by default. You can zoom in using the controls in the header:
The Gantt auto-scrolls to today's date when you open the workspace. Your scroll position is preserved when switching zoom levels.
You need to be in edit mode to create a project. There are two ways:
Fill in the project name, client, type, start and end dates, and optionally an emoji.
GanttForce uses half-month precision for all dates. Dates snap to either the first half (H1 = 1st of the month) or the second half (H2 = 16th of the month). A tooltip shows the snapped date while you drag.
With edit mode active, you can edit a project in two ways:
Right-click the project bar on the Gantt and select Delete, or remove it from the Projects table in the Control Panel. A confirmation dialog appears before deletion.
Each project can have a short code — a brief identifier shown on the Gantt bar. Short codes are auto-generated from the first three letters of the project name and auto-uppercased. You can override them manually in the Edit Project modal.
Project types can have an emoji assigned to them in the Control Panel. The emoji appears on the Gantt bar alongside the project name, making it easy to distinguish types at a glance.
Each project type has a color. Project bars on the Gantt use that color so you can identify types visually without reading the label.
If team members are assigned to a project, their avatars appear stacked on the project bar. Hover over the stack to see names.
