Setting Up Company Holidays

Overview

After importing public holidays for your team's countries, editors and admins set a company-level policy for each holiday. This tells GanttForce whether a holiday applies to everyone, is left for each person to decide, or should be treated as a regular working day.

Opening Company holidays

Go to the Vacation page and click Company holidays in the toolbar. This button is visible to editors and admins only.

Setting a policy for each holiday

The list shows all public holidays that have been imported for your workspace, in chronological order across all years. For each holiday you choose one of three options.

Option	What it does
Confirm	The holiday is approved at company level. It counts as a non-working day for everyone on the team, regardless of individual preferences.
User Choose	Each team member decides individually whether they observe this holiday. The holiday appears as pending in each person's calendar until they confirm or remove it.
Cancel	The holiday is treated as a regular working day for everyone. It does not affect capacity planning.

Once you select an option, the other two become dimmed. You can change a policy at any time by clicking a different option — the previously active one will deactivate.

Nothing is saved until you click Save changes.

Recommended setup

A typical setup after importing holidays looks like this.

Set Confirm for official state holidays that the whole company observes — for example New Year's Day or national independence days.
Set User Choose for religious holidays where observance varies across the team — for example Orthodox Christmas or Good Friday.
Set Cancel for any imported dates that do not apply to your company.

After saving, team members will see the results in their personal My holidays panel. Holidays set to User Choose will appear as pending until each person confirms or removes them.

How this affects capacity

Holidays set to Confirm immediately count as non-working days for all team members in capacity calculations. Holidays set to User Choose count only after each person confirms them. Holidays set to Cancel have no effect on capacity.

Country assignment per team member

Each person on the team has a country assigned in their profile (set in Control Panel → Team). GanttForce uses this to show the correct country's holidays in that person's calendar. A team member from Bosnia will see Bosnian holidays, not Serbian ones. To update a person's country, go to Control Panel → Team and edit the Country field.
